On Friday August 14, we reached a pre-agreement which still needs to be ratified by the courts whereby Mercadona accepts all of CNT Olot’s demands expressed in the conflict we started with the Mercadona in the Olot mall.
In this document, Mercadona recognizes their error and offers two options: Financial compensation or reinstatement of our colleague to her job with the same economic conditions as before.
Seeing Mercadona has changed their attitude which, unlike the previous one, is very positive, CNT Olot has put planned future actions on hold until the final signing of the agreement between the Mercadona representatives and our union. When the agreement is duly ratified we will withdraw the lawsuit against the hypermarket chain for this particular conflict.
Once again we prove the validity of our syndicalist model, a union that does not receive subsidies, does not have full time paid union officials or elections committees. Direct action and the assembly demonstrate their strength with tangible results in the betterment of the labor situation of our compañeros.
