Conflict against ISS

Brief chronologically explanation of the conflict

October 5, 2009

IFAS
Hotel, is a residence dedicated to providing luxury living to
retirees, and located in the central Rambla de Alicante, new
section was created.
Its members are mostly kitchen staff. At that time, the section, and the company was called Serunión, directed by Mediterranean cuisine (GM ).

December 2009 – January 2010

Given
the harsh working conditions, it happend what we where saying was going to happend,, our most active partner in the company suffered an industrial
accident.
This situation arises in the context of changing business, Serunión ceased and a new company came into play, ISS.

This
new company, reviewed contracts (many in fraud of law) and interrogatde
workers one by one, offered the workers to end the working relation with the old company and start a new working relationship with them from
scratch,
losing all rights. To this, our comrade Manuel refused, since the conditions «offered» by ISS were worse than they already had. The section claimed a surrogacy from the old to the new company to which the new company answered with dismissal.

Clearly,
ISS did not want fighters in their new ranks, and, as expected, they did
not dismiss precisely the USO or the other unions, the first that was dismissed was
our friend, a fighter.
We started immediate
solidarity throughout the CNT and began a work ofdiscalification of the company, uncovering the irregularities
committed.

Pikets, reports, faxes, ISS began
to realize that he had gone with members of a union that does not shut
up, and the same we move for one than for a thousand.

February 5, 2010

This
was the day the Act of Settlement and readmission of our colleague, the
struggle had been, once again, a positive result, and our friend was
able to enjoy the victory back to his job, knowing he had won a battle
but
that the fight continued. The trade union section, which was also rejected, was accepted by the company. The CNT in Alicante began a new journey and this was a good example of this.

May 11, 2010

The
activity of the local union did not wait long, and our demands began in
May, sending the company’s management a set of requirements ISS and just
claims, among which the lack of diverse material, both as tools
material protection of occupational hazards, such as safety clothing, etc …

This
situation of lack of tools and clothing led to several accidents, our
friend Manuel suffered burns and falls down stairs at different
levels.
Such requirements are framed in the demand
by the CNT section in the company’s compliance with organic regulations
concerning work clothes, occupational risk prevention, health and
safety, articles 43, 46, 48 and 14 of the
Hospitality for the province of Alicante.

There
was also another series of complaints, one of the most important is the
garbage output, which forced the cooks to do such work when it
was not specified in their duties.
However, the local union was willing to negotiate the garbage output. With these requirements, we called on the management of the company to meet with the union section.

Summer 2010

The company strikes again, this time began to lay off other workers. Roberto
and Antonio, our union members and members of the union section, again,
the solidairty machine starts  and started asking for solidarity and
intensify the struggle.
We went not only to the workplace to speak out, but also to Hospitals, where ISS has good presence in bars and restaurants. Our propaganda and pressure becomes almost weekly. The company threatened to fire the son of Anthony (who also works with ISS), if we continue with the struggle.

Today

Today we expect a meeting with management of ISS for the reinstatement of the partners. We call for intensified action.
